My Top Artists

These artists are currently listed as my top four Spotify artists of all time

If you would like to check any of them out, please click the links below and give them a listen!

Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino is my all-time most listened to artist, and with good reason. He has four albums released on Spotify, many singles, and has won multiple Grammys. My favorite album is Camp, his first album on Spotify, released in 2011. The storyline behind the album and the anger, meaning, and often ridiculousness of the song lyrics add up to a powerful first release. Some of my favorite songs from the album are Sunshine and Bonfire. I also respect him as an overall entertainer because, besides being a successful rapper and singer, he is also a successful writer, producer, director, actor, and comedian. He wrote for big-name shows like 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, he wrote, directed, acted in, and produced the show Atlanta, he starred in the show Community, and he has a comedy special on Netflix called "Weirdo." This man is truly a jack-of-all-trades, master of all.

Outkast

Outkast is my second most-listened-to artist of all time. I grew up listening to their music playing in the car as my mom took me to school, and I even danced to Hey Ya! in the talent show in the fifth grade. I have so many good memories associated with their tunes, and their hip-hop style is just so classic. Outkast is also Atlanta's most iconic rap duo, and they are one of the most successful hip-hop duos of all time. The two members Big Boi and André 3000 have created over 6 albums and won six Grammys, multiple MTV Awards, multiple BET Awards, and many other awards as well. Outkast is an Atlanta classic, and if you're from Georgia, Outkast is definitely a name to know.

The Beatles

The Beatles are my third most-listened-to artist of all time. I've always appreciated the Beatles. I grew up listening to their classics like Hey Jude, Here Comes The Sun, and Yellow Submarine, but I didn't start listening to each of their albums as wholes until high school. After seeing Paul McCartney in concert and watching the movie Yesterday, I went on a big Beatles kick. I repeatedly listened to the Revolver album, purchased several Beatles records, and recreated the I Feel Fine music video with my friends in my film class. I learned to appreciate more than just the classics, and to this day, I am still making my way through all their music. The Beatles are certainly one of the most iconic bands of all time and with good reason.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise

Rainbow Kitten Surprise is my fourth most-listened-to artist of all time. I first discovered this alt/indie band when my friend from cross country was giving me a ride home from practice. I saw their unique name on her Spotify and asked her to please show me their music. I saw a song called Cocaine Jesus in their most popular songs list and genuinely had no idea what to expect. Their alternative sound is so unique to other bands within the genre. Their music has so many different sounds, ranging from happy, almost twangy, to slow and falsetto, yet they keep their overall sound consistent throughout all their songs. I fell in love with them almost immediately. I went on one of the longest artist kicks I’d ever been on, listening to strictly RKS for what felt like over a month. It’s so easy to listen to them for extended periods because they have so much to offer. It truly never gets old.
